December Chapter Meeting:
Our next ISSA Central Alabama Chapter Meeting will be Thursday,December 1st, at Protective Center so please make plans to attend. We are pleased to have as our guest speaker Tyler Bonyman, Principal SE from Sophos. As always, if you know any security-minded colleagues/friends who are not part of our ISSA Chapter yet, invite them to come as your guest. We will be providing a light lunch for attendees, so please RSVP back to brian@centralalabama.issa.org for yourself and any guests so we can get the order right.
Presentation: “How do you control mobile security risks and keep business data safe? More and more employees are working outside the office. They are also using their laptops, Androids, iPads and other personal mobile devices for work – blending their unprotected devices with valuable business data. This introduces even greater risk to an organization’s data, network, and reputation. Learn how you can control these risks and
keep business data safe. We’ll discuss:
· Building a successful enterprise strategy for mobile security
· Proactively preventing breaches
· Raising end-user awareness about emerging threats
· Providing protection from malware – wherever your employees are working”
Date: Thursday,December 1st
Time: 11am-1pm (first 30 minutes usually meet/greet)
Location: Protective Center (click here for driving directions; see tab)
Room: Training Room A (now called the Alabama Room); from the visitor’s level guard’s Desk, turn left and walk around next to the glass windows until you get to the
Training Rooms area; turn left through double-doors; the room is on the right.
P.S. – As I mentioned in my recent email, we need your help:
Officer Elections
Officer elections will be held in December for all positions (President,
Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, Director of Membership). If you are interested in serving our Chapter as an Officer, please let me know. Serving as an Officer provides a great opportunity to get involved in the Chapter and grow your leadership skills.
2012 Speakers
As 2012 is almost upon us, we are starting to put together the speaker roster for 2012. We hope you have enjoyed the mixture of member presentations, vendors, and security gurus that spoke to our Chapter this year. We need more volunteers for member presentations – if you have a topic that you would like to present to the Chapter next year, speak up! It’s a
great way to sharpen your presentation skills. Also, if you know of someone who would make a great speaker for our Chapter or have a recommendation for a topic, please let me or one of the other Officers know.
